to/from Pattaya - updated August 2007

Private taxi:
I highly recommend a private airport taxi pick-up at the rate of
1200B including all tolls, paid to the driver. This option is quick, easy,
and very good value for money. Once you clear customs, the driver will
meet your airplane with your name on a sign, then deliver you straight to your
check-in with me at View Talay. I can schedule this for you with your
reservation if you give me your arrival/departure details.
Alternatively, you can take a bus. Below is information
copy/pasted from the
Pattaya Expat's Club Newsletter (schedule can change anytime):
Transportation to/from Suvarnabhumi Airport
Roong Reung's Blue and White coach service departs from the airport bus depot to
Pattaya Nua station at the following times: 8 AM, 11 AM, 3 PM and 7 PM . The
Ticket office window is in the airport bus station. Price 106 Baht. Bell
Travel goes up to the new airport each day from Pattaya Nua Bus Station (ticket
office bungalow in the car park to right) at 06:00, 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00,
17:00 and 19:00. Two ticket prices, depending if you book to be picked up by
Bell Travel minibus from your home, 150 Baht or 200 Baht. From the airport
terminal you can meet Bell Travel to return to Pattaya at 0800, 1000, 1200,
1400, 1600 and 1800 on Level One, Door 7 - see their rep in this area or phone
her on 089-449-8843.
A Yellow Bus to the airport leaves from Jomtien's Chaiyaphuk Road. This
bus terminus is located at the beginning of Soi Chaiyaphuk 1, where it
intersects with Jomtien Beach Road, across the street from the beach. The
office contact phone for the Yellow Bus is 038 231 142, if you wish to check the
schedule. Tickets can be purchased 1 day in advance. The current schedule
is:
Pattaya to Airport: 0630, 0900, 1300, 1700, 1930.
Airport to Pattaya: 0630, 0900, 1300, 1700, 1930.
At the Airport Transport Depot the Yellow Bus to Jomtien is referred to as
Number 999, and the bus does display this number. The bus is bright yellow,
single deck, with the words Pattaya - Suvarnabhumi Airport written large on both
sides, and a large notice in the drivers windshield saying either Pattaya or
Airport. The cost is 106 Baht in each direction. A recent visitor who used
this bus reported good service. On the return journey (to Jomtien) this yellow
bus does NOT have a scheduled stop in Pattaya but will stop, if requested, near
North Pattaya Road, Central Pattaya Road, South Pattaya Road.
Pattaya to Bangkok
- Taxi (1.5 hours - 2 hours) --
recommended, good deal.
- From the shop downstairs, as well as many other shops in
Pattaya/Jomtien, you can order a Bangkok city meter taxi from View Talay to anywhere in Bangkok,
or to the airport for 800B plus tolls, no matter how many people (note:
this is a private taxi, not sharing with people you do not know).
Please note this particular
price is only
available to Bangkok, not from Bangkok, and usually must reserve with
these agents beforehand. You get this good deal, because the
Bangkok city taxis don't want to go back to Bangkok empty, and want to go
as soon as possible.
